Gradings takes place twice a year in the club.

Every lesson counts towards the grading. If a lesson is missed, it can be made up by attending another club, (if possible in the same week as the missed lesson, if not, in one of the two lessons prior to grading as these are the weeks in which revision is practised). The other way of making a lesson up is to attend a League, Course or Championship.

A championship is a quite serious competition and usually children have been doing Judo for a few terms before entering. They are individual competitions organised in weight groups. Ususally there are Gold, Silver and two Bronze medals given in each weight group.
